SEM Flaps Lever – Button 61 not triggered in 4-detent mode

Postby ich.sk » Tue Mar 10, 2026 10:13

Hardware
  • Gladiator EVO Right Hand
  • SEM XT2 (side-mounted)

Software / Firmware
  • Firmware: v2.216
  • VKBDevCfg: v0.93.89
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2

Configuration procedure
Configured SEM flaps lever using hardware configuration mode:

  • Hold B1 + B2 + B3 while powering up
  • Press A1 (Flaps Lever)
  • Press B3 (4 detents)
  • Press C1 (Save)

Device restarted afterwards.

Observed in VKBDevCfg → Test tab (not in-game)

  • Lowest position → Buttons 58 + 59 (lever can still move slightly)
  • 1st detent → Button 59
  • 2nd detent → Button 60
  • Uppermost position → Button 60

Button 61 never activates

Additional tests

  • Detent removed → still only buttons 58 / 59 / 60
  • 2-detent configuration → buttons 58 + 61 work correctly
  • 3-detent configuration → buttons 58 / 59 / 61 work correctly

Calibration

  • Device calibrated in VKBDevCfg
  • Flaps lever moved through full travel during calibration

Question

How can I get Button 61 to trigger in the 4-detent configuration?
Is there an additional configuration or calibration step required?

Thank you!

Here are some Screenshots and nthe Config that may help:

Update / Workaround

I managed to get the flaps lever working by bypassing the built-in 4-detent mapping after playing around a bit.

What worked for me was configuring the lever as an axis at firmware level and then creating the detent buttons manually via Axis2Buttons.

Steps

  • Enter SEM hardware configuration mode
    (hold B1 + B2 + B3 while powering up)
  • Press A1 (Flaps lever)
  • Press the red Start button for "no detents"
  • Press C1 to save

After that the lever behaves as a normal axis.

In VKBDevCfg I first configured the lever as axis using the Axis WIZARD then used Axis2Buttons to create four virtual buttons based on the lever position.

  • Button 58 → lowest range
  • Button 59 → next range
  • Button 60 → next range
  • Button 61 → top range

This now works correctly and all four flap positions trigger as expected.

Additional observation

While testing in axis mode I confirmed that the lever covers the full range:

  • 0 → 65535

So calibration and sensor range appear to be correct.
The issue therefore seems related to the firmware’s predefined 4-detent mapping rather than the hardware itself.

Can someone from the Dev-Team confirm a FW issue? And will it fix?

For now the Axis2Buttons solution works reliably but a solution for the intended function would be appreciated.

Thank you!

When the "Poll" checkbox is checked in the physical buttons tab, how many red squares light up when the flap lever is moved to all four positions after resetting to default?

Test result (after Default reset, Physical Buttons tab with "Poll" enabled)

Observed behavior when moving the flaps lever through all four positions:

  • Position 0 (lowest):
    BTN 58 (Register #8, Line 2)
    PHY_Lever_0.png

  • There is a small slack (~1 mm) in the lowest position.
If I move the lever slightly upward within this slack until the resistance of the detent, BTN 59 (Register #8, Line 3) lights up.

  • Position 1:
    BTN 59 (Register #8, Line 3)
    PHY_Lever_1.png

  • Position 2:
    BTN 60 (Register #8, Line 4)
    PHY_Lever_2.png

  • Position 3 (uppermost):
    BTN 60 (Register #8, Line 4)
    PHY_Lever_3.png

Observation:
BTN 61 never lights up in any position.
