Issue with VKB SCG Grip after installing Gunfighter MK3 conversion twist adapter

Has anyone upgraded from an SCG NXT to a Gunfighter MK3 base using the adapter VKB sells and ran into any issues getting the base to recognize the stick?

I’m currently having an issue where when the MK3’s black box is plugged into my PC, it will only recognize the base when the SCG grip is off of it. When the grip is connected to the base windows won’t recognize it.

Things I’ve done already:

Opened a ticket, still pending response

Made sure no wires were pinched or shorted when installing the adapter

Made sure the grip was properly seated on the base

Flashed the black box with the newest firmware for the SCG (L) / flashed it with older firmware as well.

I’ve tested the Mk3 base with a K12 grip that works perfectly fine when plugged in. Thats how I know there isn’t a contact issue on the base side. Im wondering if maybe I received an adapter that was broken. The SCG grip was previously on a NXT Evo base and it worked perfectly on that yesterday.

Could you swap red and black wires in the connector that plugs into the board on the grip? There are some small plastic tabs holding each wire in place; lift those with a needle, then pull the wire out.

Okay, swapped the wires. Now the black box is blue but still flashing red like a grip isn't detected. However, now it not longer just "disappears" from the VKB software. The lights on the SCG are not on however and buttons are not working. A yellow light does flash on the SCG then it goes away.

Yep, the default button was pressed.

Edit: I'm going to reseat the wires, I noticed they aren't as pushed up in the connector as the yellow wire. Could that be a thing causing that yellow light to flash?

I will try that, I also edited my prior post as the wires are not seating as far up as the yellow one. Going to try and get them up more.

Push them firmly inside the connector, the metal end has to get caught and hold by the plastic tab.

Okay, returned it to the original configuration with wires fully seated. Black box returned to cutting off when the grip is plugged in. I now have them back to the swapped configuration and am still getting that yellow light on the SCG then it goes away and no inputs work.

They should be as the original configuration, that's the right order for the left hand grip. Do you have a multimeter to check wire continuity or to verify there is no shorting?
Also check on those 2 bridge PCBs if they sit properly on their pins.

Sorry, no multimeter on hand. Would there be something to look for closer to where the wires go in to the twist portion?

Use a hex key to remove the headless screw indicated. When it's out push slowly on the cable so the PCB with the 3 pins would come out. Check on its back if all 3 wires are properly soldered to the pins and not making contact between them.

Looks good, let's try again. There's a large hole on the bottom of the grip connector to allow offset mounting - make sure the grip is straight when you mount it on the base and not at an angle.

Grip is straight, just lined it up to make sure. Windows is saying the device is unrecognized and no lights are on the SCG Grip or MK3 base now. Nothing showing in VKB software.
