Multiple Extensions on Gunfighter MK III?

Postby kissTheSky » Sun Apr 25, 2021 2:07

Hello,

I intend to get a Pro-L 200mm Gunfighter MK III with an Ultimate grip and want to attach it on the floor of my cockpit, which I use for both flight and driving sims. I have two questions regarding extensions and would like to get some insight before I purchase so I can determine if I need to modify my cockpit, or whether I can put my plan into action as long as VKB stick is concerned.

For me to be able to mount the stick base to the floor of my cockpit, I’d have to have one 200 mm extension (top) and one 100 mm extension (bottom) between the Gunfighter base and the grip. Also the base would be permanently attached to the cockpit, but the grip and the extensions would have to be removed every time I play my racing sim.

My two questions are:

1. Is it possible to attach two extensions without causing any functional and detrimental effects, and
2. Is constant (every other session) removal and re-attachment of the extensions from the base liable to damage and/or loosen the extension to GF base connection(s)?

Thanks so much in advance.

Technically it is possible to have several extensions on a base (exceeding 200mm), but practically it won't work: the spring resistance would be too weak to pull the stick back to center (or to feel comfortable while moving it around) and the range of the base would be too wide (you'd need a lot of space to move the grip around).

Thanks for the insight.

How about continuous attach/detach cycle? Would it lead to degrading performance if it’s continuously used to move the stick out of the way?

I guess if I’m to build a riser block so I can get the grip to correct level, I can just remove the whole riser block along with the base/extension/grip. I just wish the base came with the option of small plate so I could keep the riser block size to a minimum.

The riser block would be the best option for your case and a small plate would help to install the base on it (or maybe some 8020 that would somehow get attached to your structure?).
No problems with constantly mounting/unmounting the grip+ext on the base.
