I'm very happy with the stick (gladiator NXT pro) but it suddenly stopped working.
Within windows the device is not recognizd and doesn't have any input ingame.
within the configuration window i get the following message.
"unknown usb device request for device descriptor failed"
I tried recalibrating which i still can do but without effect.
Within the latest version of VKBDevCfg-C the device is not recognized.
I tried different usb ports, reconnecting, redownloading the software en restarting everything but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?
Kind regards

Please remove the bottom plate, take a picture with the electronics visible and post it here.

Re: Gladiator NXT suddenly stopped working
I've had this occur with a Gladiator K many times and seemingly randomly.
One day working fine, then next day plug it in only to get "unknown descriptor" - things I tried:
1. reboot
2. using all USB ports on the m/b
3. using ports on a powered USB hub (this is where I usually connect it)
4. cleared all the devices with USBDeview
5. tried wrapping the cable and unwrapping it in increments (in case it was was faulty cable)
Workaround: finally I realized by accident that the only thing that seems to "help" when it does this is to leave it connected for a while and then I unplug and re-plug it. Then it works. Almost as if some component needs to heat up or a capacitor is not filling up properly, I've yet to inspect the board in detail but with a simple visual inspection I did not see something obvious.
It never loses connection once it properly initializes, only happens on first initialization and if it initializes OK then you can unplug and replug and it won't do it again until maybe the next day or even the next week or even a month later (I thought it had stopped doing this after the latest firmware update to 2.025 but it happened again recently).
Hope this helps!

Re: Gladiator NXT suddenly stopped working
Thanks for your report @moreyummystuff! 'Unknown descriptor' could come either from computer or from the joystick. Please check this article for some PC software/hardware fixes; if it still doesn't work please fill up a service ticket to check your joystick.

Re: Gladiator NXT suddenly stopped working
Thanks!
Stupidly I forgot to mention a crucial bit of info! I also tried it on 3 different PCs (2 desktops and 1 laptop, so completely different chipsets and USB controllers) at the time this was happening and it would exhibit the same result. Come to think of it I've also changed motherboard on my main PC in the interim so that would make it 4 totally different PCs this has happened on.
It is very odd and I wish I could find a way to replicate the issue consinstently; if I do I will let you know and then file for a service ticket because now I'd just be wasting people's time with "it randomly happens".

Re: Gladiator NXT suddenly stopped working
I'm getting that "unknown descriptor" device in my device manager as well. I uninstall it and it comes back later. However the joystick seems to be working fine. It's brand new.
Just received last week. It's recognized in the joystick panel in windows, in game and by the vkb config software. Mine didn't come with the latest firmware from the factory
so it's now been flashed and reset to defaults. Yet the unknown device still shows up and there's no vkb listed anywhere else in device manager.

Re: Gladiator NXT suddenly stopped working
hello VKB,
my new Gladiator NXT suddenly stops working. In Windows and in the latest version of VKBDevCfg the device is not recognized. I have tried different USB ports, reconnected the device, restarted Windows, but nothing seems to work. I have also performed a hard reset following the instructions described: https://vkbcontrollers.com/?faq=is-ther ... kb-devices. The flashing worked, but the joystick is still not recognized.
i even tried a different usb cable and also plugged the joystick into a different computer. nothing helps. I suspect a defect
I have created a ticket -> #5589. please help me.
unfortunately, customer service did not respond to my email inquiries and complaints.

Re: Gladiator NXT suddenly stopped working
Hi Toh,
Do this: unplug the Gladiator, press and hold F1 and F2 buttons, plug back and release the buttons after the Windows chime. That should reset your joystick to default profile. From there follow the steps from here (including flashing the new firmware).
If still no response, then disconnect it again, press and hold F1, F2 and F3 buttons, plug the Gladiator, release the buttons at chime and open VKBDevCfg; you should see in the device list something like VKB Boot nJoy. Click on the Tools tab, then Bootloader and reflash your device as linked above.

Re: Gladiator NXT suddenly stopped working
thank you very much!
Resetting the profile with F1 and F2 fixed the problem. The joystick works fine again!
