Profile/Axis changes by game

Postby Atomiktoaster » Thu Mar 04, 2021 22:31

Here's my problem: I have the NXT minithrottle set up with a central deadzone for Elite and Squadrons, but I want to be able to play DCS and MSFS with a standard throttle setup. For flexibility, it seems better to make that switch at the profile level, but changing individual settings could also work.

I'd like the switch to occur automatically on game load or through a preset .bat file that runs a console command to configure the stick and opens the game .exe, but a quick button press combination would be better than having to separately open software to change profiles.

What are the possible solutions? I don't think I can use the curves functions in VKBDevCfg to change those axis properties, and I've never really worked with multiple profiles. If it's not possible or very difficult right now, automatic configuration would be a really nice feature to add for things like the electronic detent setup for TECS.

Take a look here for some profile. The file zconfig_GNX_profiles.ini must be placed in the folder with the configurator, and then when another profile is loaded, the name in the configurator will also change. You can change these long names to shorter ones as you like.
There is nothing difficult in creating your own profile for each game, any aircraft, and before launching, just load the one you need with a few clicks of the mouse in the configurator.

I couldn't find the profile change interface. Could you post a screenshot of what it's supposed to look like?

Do you have to flash the microcontroller every time you change profiles? Is there a limit to how many times you can flash it? Does the NG software have any relevant new features for profile management?

Watch this video to see if it becomes clearer. Don't worry about the number of writes to the controller - none of them have failed for this reason.

I understood all the steps in the video. I can create the .cfg files just fine. How does the zconfig_GNX_profiles.ini change the process?

Is there something quicker than open VKBDevCfg, select the stick, click Load, select your desired .cfg file, click Set, close VKB and open your game?

If you could pass the .cfg path and the device info to VKBDevCfg as command line parameters to load and set automatically, you could put together really convenient .bat files to load a game and a desired profile (for specific planes) from the desktop via one shortcut.
