Orange or Black???

Could someone please explain to me what is the difference between the 2 boxes? So in function of course. For example, would I have any disadvantages if I continued to use my orange from my MCG Pro? So in relation to the fact that I want to get the Ultimate at the next opportunity. Would that still be compatible? Somehow I like the metallic box more or it just fits better to the metallic stick, you know

I'm not official, and replying from memory.

Mostly, "nothing". The black ones are just the newer version. I mean they require different firmware so the hardware has obviously changed but in terms of functions offered, I recall being told very little to no difference. Slightly improved power handling capability if anything but the MCG Ultimate works fine with the old orange BB, and the old orange BB handles the upgraded Gunfighter III bases with the extra sensor board just fine. (This I'm sure of, because it's what I have.)

I don't recall if the 'nextgen' software might require the newer black boxes though...would need to search harder. But as that's not out yet in final form, doesn't matter to me at the moment.

Like you, I kind of like the orange ones. Maybe in the future they'll re-offer a "Black Box Ultimate"??
