T-rudder Mk.IV with Gunfighter Mk.III MC with twist

Postby cali2882 » Sat Dec 12, 2020 14:36

Hi everyone, first post here. I just received my pedals today, plugged into the same blackbox as the Gunfighter I already use in DCS. I know there is limitation of max 8 axis. Since the joystick already have 8 axis, what should I do so I can use the single blackbox? My pedals are not being detected either as a device, nor an additional axis. Thanks for the help.

The MCG Pro with twist has 8 axes assigned, which is the max for Windows limitations (8 axes per device). If you want to add the rudders to the same device (MCG) you'll have to disable one of the grip's axes so the rudders' axis could get assigned. The easiest way to achieve that is to plug the rudders in the same Black Box with the base and flash the device with the firmware for MCG Pro no twist (_BlackBox_MK2_GF_MCG_PRO_v2_00_7.vkb). This way your rudders axis will replace the twist axis. You'll also have to calibrate at the end.

Thank you very much for the help. That is what I did, flashed the non-twist MkII pro firmware, and the rudder showed up as z axis. However, this was after I replaced the cat5 cable that came with the rudder, I errored out every time during calibration. I replaced with a cat8 and now works perfectly, probably should be okay with just another cat5 or 6, but works now.

Actually was able to go through calibration, but now every time I apply rudder, the blackbox light for the pedal will start blinking red, and no response detected in config tool.

I have now plugged the rudder into its separate blackbox, issue is everytime I apply any rudder no matter when, the blue system light dims and randomly flashes, and the pedal light flashes red. This is the same case when plugging into the same blackbox as the joystick. What could be the issue?

Try using the original cable. Also change USB ports. Are you resetting to default after flashing and before calibrating?

I have changed back to original cable. I think something wrong with the pedal itself. I plugged it into the Gunfighter bb with the joystick, red light flash after applying rudder, no issue with joystick, I switch the entire setup to the pedal bb, same issue, I use separate bb, same issue, I switch bb between the joystick and pedals, the red flashing light goes with the pedals, joystick has no issues no matter which bb is used. Also multiple USB ports used.

Also, yes I did default after every reflash. I also tried both the twist and non-twist firmware. It seems every time i press down on the pedal, it errors out the box.

Open it up, maybe you'll find a connection issue around the board.

I was having the same issue, trying to utilize a single black box for both the GF MkIII w/ twist and the new T-rudder pedals. Ultimately, I flashed the black box w/ the non-twist firmware and magically the pedals showed up on the Z axis of the GF MkIII. However, am I to understand that the T-link software cannot be used in this configuration? The T-Link software consistently flashes the message "DISCONNECTED". When I open up VKB Device Config I only see the GF MkIII listed as a device and not the T-rudder pedals. If I flash the black box with the T-Rudder firmware, I lose the GF MKIII in the VKB Device Config and only the T-Rudders show up. Thanks for any help

If you use the rudders in the same Black Box with another device then the Black Box should be flashed with the firmware matching that device (which could be either a Gladiator MKII/K or GunFighter base with any grip). In this case you will only see the name of the primary device in the devices list; after connecting the rudders you'll also have to calibrate. You don't have to use the T-link software.

I am using the non-twist firmware with the pedals plugged into the same box. I get to calibration, apply rudder, the slider moves a little, and then nothing, and the red light start flashing. It seems every time the pedal sends signal, it errors, I opened it up, could not really find anything wrong.

Fill up a service ticket please, might be an issue with rudders' connector.
