X-Axis Noise

Postby Spoon » Fri Jun 12, 2020 0:52

Hi,

I have excessive noise in the X-Axis (roll). This makes roll input erratic and unpredictable.
The Y-Axis works perfectly and smoothly.
I have flashed and recalibrated several times. I have tightened down all the screws in the grip and the grip adapter.
The noise is present with either the Warthog grip or the MCG Pro grip.
(The MCG PRO grip introduces other problems - unasked for button inputs when moving the stick.)

1-VKB Gunfighter MK II (3 pin Rev B) with Warthog adapter and Warthog Grip
2-Firmware v 1_99_6(3) / _BlackBox_GF_TMW_v1_99_6.vkb
3- one #10 spring
4-#10 cam

First you could clean up the 3 contact pads on the base stem with just a bit of alcohol and a qpad. If still having issues open up the base and check the white plastic connectors, pull them out and plug them back. While doing that check if each wire getting in the connector it's firm. Some users have remarked that this kind of spikes were produced when a small piece of metal got attached to the sensor's magnets - you might want to check on that too if unsuccessful with the contact pads and wires.
Btw, when you change grips you have to recalibrate. MCG having the kind of behavior you described most of the times it means it's not calibrated.

Are you really use the Warthog grip and adapter on the #10 spring?

Cleaning the contacts seems to have helped. Thank you.

I recalibrate every time I change grips since I must flash the firmware anyway.

I do use the #10 spring on the X-axis, but I use a heavier spring and the W cam on the Y-axis.

Thanks for the help.
