Brake axis linearity

Hi, as seen in JoyTester the response curve of my brake axis is far from linear, this was a nice steady pull and steady release. I cannot correct it with a response curve. The first two little dips in the graph are the lever pulled to half way.

This is unuseable in DCS as wheel brakes, but assistance I've gained so far say it should be fine in DCS, and also something about the KdHi and KdLo values not wanting to be 255. I've calibrated the axes in VKBdevcfg and wizzo, complete and partial calibrations, always with the same result.

Please someone shed some light on this, I don't want to keep tipping my Spitfire

It is worth trying to reset to default with the red button and then calibrate. Perhaps upgrade firmware and configurator. Take here.

I have successfully updated to _BlackBox_GF_MCG_PRO_v1_96_0.vkb

Successfully recalibrated using VKBDevCfg-Cv0.89.00

Same problem remains. All other functionality is perfect.

Further information: My unit defaults to fw 1.94 as in the post above, black box in normal operation has solid red STICK light and solid blue SYS light. Temporarily disconnecting the stick results in flashing green STICK light. I add this detail after reading other posts about solid green or solid red light on different versions of BB.

And here is joytester again, with as slow a pull as i could manage, timed to start at t=0, roughly 4 second pull time, with the first 3/4 being completely dead.

I see now the deadzone is by default set to 10, by setting this to zero as it was in the original post settings (as I had done during my attempts to solve the issue) I recover the miniscule response over the first 3/4 travel followed by the sharp increase.

I have other numbers here - try to put, for example, first 100 and Set. We don’t touch the dead zone.

This morning I turn on my computer and the BB is showing only blue SYS light, no red nor green STICK light. Joystick still functioning as has always.

thank you for your assistance, i tried adjusting all numbers, to no avail, i ended up investigating the hardware, took it apart and played with the MaRS sensor distance and angle, after some fiddling and re-assembly it has found a position in which it calibrates perfectly (i had fashioned a shim to slightly increase the distance between the sensor and magnet but ended up not needing it.) It's possible it as the way the lever spring was installed, but either way it's linear now. Definitely magnet to sensor distance issue.

Hi team,

As seen above I found the problem to be hardware related, and it worked for a bit but now it’s gone back to the old terrible performance. It’s virtually digital, off and on, a super sharp transition at about 3/4 pull.

Any hardware advice on fixing this? Replacement sensor? A shim? Has anyone else had this problem?
