Before trying to print a new hand rest I'd suggest to reconsider your hand position on the stick: the hand rest should be more like a guide and not support; the stability comes from a good contact of the palm on the grip.
Maybe the need of a larger hand rest comes from the wrong position of the joystick, like when it's sitting on a high desk or user sits on a low chair and the joystick is in front of his chest. Good position of the joystick is when the elbow is aligned with the joystick or higher than it. If the elbow is under the joystick user is losing precision, arm gets tired, palm is pressing on the twist, tends to pull back instead of relaxing.
