VKB Gladiator NXT: Getting the Z-Axis (Twist) to work

Postby Ancient » Sat May 22, 2021 21:45

I am lost on this issue. Currenty the "Axis-Z" is somehow mapped to the slider. The "Axis Z" to the slider at the base. Twisting the stick does nothing (it is calibrated).

I think I can/need to change this in the Config. But where is the manual that explains what to do? I watched videos, read through the forums for hours. Dumb as before.

The minithrottle is by default Axis Z in Config. The twist is Rot Z.

Left Stick: As you say. Twist is Rot Z. Throttle is Axis Z.
Right Stick: Twist does nothing. Throttle is Axis z.

How to change this? A link to a documentation would be ok. The VKB Docu doesnt explain enough.

Software manual is here.

Is it just the twist not working on the right device or buttons too? Have you tried to reset it to default?

Ok, fixed. A cable was loosed on the USB connector from the Stick to the controller. So now I need to figure out how to remap those axis. I know the manual, but i doesn't really help to understand what to do.
E.g. Which "DEVICE" are the Gladiator NXT and its base? They cant be chosen on the External devices/Device Combo. As far as I got it I would need to map the Twist Sensor to an Axis. The SCG Device that is "detected" seems not to have another sensor other then V_MaRS X and Y and Vrtuals.

If a cable was unplugged then not only the twist, but all other buttons on the grip were dead.
You don't have to remap no axes (why would you do this???), same as you didn't had to reflash a brand new joystick. Just reset to Default to get rid of any other changes you've made, calibrate the joystick and play. Meanwhile you could watch some software tutorials on the official YouTube channels and check the manual for more complex programming; but you really don't have to - if it's calibrated the joystick is ready to play with.

I didn't had to flash the current stable firmware, I do this however always regardless of the Hardware before starting to work with it.
The axis remapping was just a misunderstanding, while mapping the Twist in the game (Star Citizen for the left stick) the axis wasnt recognized, this however was an issue with two "right sticks" or the other one that didnt react at all. Even after fixing this is still thought I need to remapped the axis so that the output in the Test matches the output of the stick in game. You are right, this isnt necessary. I could map both sticks in the game meanwhile without any modification in Config.

I watched pretty much everything, except the Config videos. Still need to understand the overall concept of the software. Thanks so far.
