Can't bind logical buttons or macro's to kosmosima hat

Postby LeipeMeuteLeider » Mon Jan 18, 2021 4:50

Device: Gunfighter MkIII with kosmosima pro right-handed grip
firmware version: 2.00.7
Springs: two springs which are the strongest ones I got in the box of my gunfighter MkIII
No cams used
vkbdevconfig version: 0.91.54

I can't use a shift button to use extra logical buttons or macro's. I set one of my hats' center push button as a shift button, and assigned shift buttons to the other buttons on said hat. These extra buttons show up in the logical layer but are never activated. I originally tried to set these buttons as macro's, but since that didn't work I tried if I could use them as extra buttons so that I could use an autohotkey script to make use of macro's. When I check with the vkbjoytester I can see that the buttons on the hat show up when the shift key is not activated, but with the shift key active they don't do anything. I am certain that shift is active since the led on my joystick turns red. What am I supposed to do? You can see how I set everything up in the screenshots in the attachments.

First of all update to latest firmware and software following this guide. Second, check this guide for using the Shift command.
Both Shift and Macros works as expected, just don't try to visualize the effects on the Physical Buttons chart, for testing buttons there's Test/Buttons panel.

I tried to upgrade the firmware but there's no gunfighter mkIII + kosmosima version. Which one am I supposed to use?

I don't follow. I'm certain I have the buttons mapped correctly if that's what you're getting at, since exactly those and only those buttons stop functioning when I activate shift. They don't output anything else though, I checked that with the joytester.

Have you even opened the flashing and calibrating guide that I've posted? I understand that you wouldn't know the Kosmosima is also called SCG, but if you'd open the video you'd recognize your grip.

I've watched both videos, I was just too stupid to notice I could see the firmware version in the video. Firmware is flashed now, however I have not been able to get the shift function to work. According to the video I did it right the first time, and just to be sure I followed the video instructions as closely as possible the second time, but had no luck that way either.

They do work in the test panel. What should I do now?

Go ahead and bind them in game?
I hope though that you play DCS, as it’s one of the very few games that recognizes buttons over 100. Elite dangerous knows only 32 buttons per device, Il-2 64 and Star Citizen 100.

Good to know, but I have already rebound them to buttons 29-32 when I tried to follow the video as closely as possible.

The buttons work in the test panel, but the joystick doesn't output anything. it shows up neither in-game when trying to bind, nor when trying to use it for an autohotkey script, nor in the joysticktester.

Edit: perhaps I should clarify that the stick does work, but when shift is active the shifted buttons still don't output anything. Despite the test panel indicating they are working.

Can’t help you with neither autohotkey or that tester (are you sure they recognize over 32 buttons?); I could only assure you that if the tester in native software recognizes the input then the game should recognize it too. But if you run something like autohotkey or joystick gremlin between the joystick and the game that might mess it up.

Okay, so I got it to bind in-game. The whole point of this however was to make a couple of macro's, which I just did. Now I'm having a strange problem. I've bound two macro's so far, and the first one worked flawlessly. The second one however, despite being set up almost exactly the same way(see screenshot in attachment), only outputs uparrow once, and none of the other keys it's supposed to output... What have I done wrong here?

Here you go. Both buttons are set up the same way as far as I can tell.
