Awful Sound and Feeling from 4 Way HAT NXT

Postby FrequentFlyer » Sun Dec 13, 2020 3:26

Moidel: NXT Premium Right
Software: Most recent version, but this is irrelevant
My NXT Premium's 4 way HAT has developed an awful squeaky/creaky noise and feels like it's grinding against something when pulled down. Please help me fix this. Everything is unmodified on it, just like how it came out of the box.
Since the image can only be shown via video/audio, I will link a YouTube video of it here, as it is the only way I can show it.

I've taken it apart and reassembled it and it seems the issue was fixed for the most part. Not entirely sure what was causing it, will post another reply if the issue reappears.

I don't want to accuse of anything here, but I'd just leave this here for future reference:
these devices are tough and could take a lot of beating, but they're not indestructible. One should educate themselves to use them within reasonable limits. For this particular case, especially if the device is equipped with the new metal HAT pins, applying unreasonable force could break the PCBs underneath.
Again, it definitely might be not the case here, but this is something that everyone has to know.

I disassembled it and the PCB definitely isn't broken, the issue disappeared after reassembly. Not sure what caused it.
