VKB software causes keyboard anomaly?

Postby Jim875 » Thu Oct 20, 2022 2:32

Hello,

Three day ago, I have tired "keyboard mode" option in the VKB software to bind the keyboard shift to one of the button on my NXT.

Hours after, my keyboard seems to stuck on a single letter and it continuously to type in the same letter in all applications ( google search, text editor).

After the reboot, the problem went away, but I encountered the same problem yesterday except it on the different key.

Since then I have reinstalled the keyboard driver, disable the "keyboard mode", and run the virus scan, but I am not sure if those solve the problem.

My question is:
Is there a possibility that the VKB's "keyboard mode" implementation causes the problem I just described above? Or it is just a coincident?

Activating the keyboard mode through the native software can't mess up your computer. Check again what buttons you've assigned to keyboard; most probably it's coming from an axis though. If not sure, reset to Default, press the Find&AutoConfig button and calibrate, then bind the Shift key again to a joystick button. Here's a tutorial for that.

This has happened to me a couple of times. I've found that either the trigger wasn't calibrated properly or it wasn't "seated" meaning it was somewhere along it's axis and so "typing" the command mapped at that point and not in it's "home" position. As far as the trigger knows it's doing what it's supposed to! I figured it out when I noticed what was being typed. It was the firing commands I'd mapped to the trigger. Try this first--pull the trigger fully and release it. This should cure the problem. If it doesn't, then re-calibrate the stick fully including the trigger. This should clear the problem if the trigger pull doesn't. Had me scratching my head the first couple of times it happened.
