Hi all,
Hoping for some help. When I was assembling the Glad. NXT stick to the base, using the plastic sleeve, the cable connector came free from the cables as I was slipping off the sleeve.
As such, I'd like to replace it as the wires no longer stay firm in that little housing and the PC won't recognize the twist axis or any of the buttons (recognizes pitch/yaw/base buttons). No matter the combination I use for the wiring (black, yellow, red/red, yellow, black/etc.), I can't get this thing to work. I'd prefer not to have to send this back to China for repairs and consider myself at least somewhat capable, so ... what's that connector called (looks smaller than the standard JST 2.54/2.0mm connectors)? and what's the order of the wires?!
The model seems to be newer, as the connector and wires are straight up and down off the board, whereas all the examples I see here, the wires run perpendicular.
Thanks in advance!

New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke

Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Could you send some photos of broken cable/housing ?
I see on gladiator nxt page 4 cables from grip (black, red, green, white)...

Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Thanks for the replies! In regards to the above photo, the connection to the board is a little different. Wires run up and down from the board instead of out and away. Attached photos of the board/connection and the connecting piece that the wires came out of.
Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Replaced the wires and connectors and it did not fix the problem. I'm starting to think it shipped to me broken. Stick buttons, twist axis are not recognized by the pc and the LEDs on the stick do not light up.
Hopefully someone at vkb can help.

Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Open the grip and check the other end of the cable. Measure the wires for continuity.
Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Thanks fallout,
I actually replaced the wires completely, from the grip to the base. I get the same results at the pc end of things (no recognition of stick buttons/twist grip).

Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Ok,
I've run a few tests and forgive my lack of technical jargon:
If you look at my photo above, you'll see the board on the base shows GRND on the right hand side of the connector and 3.3 on the left. That's opposite of what the photo the other user posted, trying to show me the order of the wires. On a multimeter, plugging the COM wire into the 3.3 (left) side and the VmA probe into the GRND (right) side, gets a -3,3 value. As such, I assumed that the markings on the board were actually correct, opposite of the photo posted by the other member (grnd on top (left in my example) and 3.3 on the bottom). So, I went with the red wire to the left and the black wire to the right of the connector, plugged it in and the pc didn't recognize the controller at all. unplug the stick-to-base connection harness, pc recognizes. Now I'm thinking, maybe the wires and connector on the stick are reversed. Checked wires for continuity, all good. Swap wires on the stick, so now its red (3.3) on top and black (GRND) on bottom and the LED lit up for the first time since plugging this (#&#**$& controller in! alas, short lived. LEDs go out and pc still doesn't recognize twist or any stick-mounted button presses.
That's where I'm at now.
No further communication on my support ticket. Not exactly a wonderful experience here.
Hoping someone can help!
thanks, d

Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
More testing .. again, continuity thru the wires, all good.
I will describe the combos i tried based on stick orientation normal, wires top to bottom; on the base, USB end to button end (front of base to back of base).
stick: Power, Yellow, Ground; Base: Pwr, Ylw, Grnd = Long LED white, round LED red, both turn off after about a second. No PC recognition of twist axis or buttons on stick
stick: Ground, Yellow, Power; Base: Grnd, Ylw, Pwr = Long LED white, round LED red, both turn off after about a second. No PC recognition of twist axis or buttons on stick
stick: Power, Yellow, Ground; Base: Grnd, Ylw, Pwr = PC stops recognizing controller when both ends plugged in, remove one of the two connectors, PC recog returns
stick: Ground, Yellow, Pwr; Base: Pwr, Ylw, Ground = PC stops recognizing controller when both ends plugged in, remove one of the two connectors, PC recog returns
Any ideas about my new paperweight?

One of your connections is still bad. Please wait for your service ticket, they'll send you a new cable (I know you've mentioned it, but you did fill up a service ticket with your vendor, right?).

Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Great photos! Thanks! Solves one headache.
What's the normal state of the LEDs on the stick? Mine light up (white long, red circle) then turn off after a second or two. Is that indicative of an error?
Still no button recognition, unfortunately.
Firmware v2.025, so I think that's current.
Tested power on the stuck, and it gets the 3.3v being sent from the base. Continuity on the tx2 wire (yellow) also ok, both on the wire and on the board (metal/silver prongs next to the female end of the connector).
Any ideas? I don't think the wires or connectors are the issue anymore.

Re: New Gladiator NXT, cable connector broke
Lights behavior shows no proper contact between the grip and base.
