MCG on Gladiator Pro Mk1

I recently purchased maybe the last MCG for Gladiator Pro MK1s in stock.

When it arrived, the socked in the bottom was loose, which seemed odd, but not overly concerning. I could get the 5-pin socket to mate with my Gladiator Pro Mk1 base, and then fit the grip onto the shank and tighten it down, so the fit seems okay, even though it doesn't seem ideal.

However, in Wizzo and VKBDevCfg, I only get responses from the Gladiator base, and it's axes and buttons, but absolutely nothing from the MCG. I seem to remember in past years a post about special instructions to get these guys working together, but for the life of me, I can't find them. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Anyone have any suggestions?
