Fat Mamba firmware update failing

Postby Mr Dinsdale » Tue Jan 09, 2018 0:42

Hey,

Just installed and booted VKB Device Config (v0.83.85) up for the first time in a while and prompted me that I need to update my Fat Mamba:

HID-compliant game controller
Product Name: VKBSim Fat Mamba
PRO version
Firmware version: v1.75A

When I try to update to v1.79 it fails with:

Code: Select all

!!! Device signature not correct - flash fail !!!
Please check version of firmware file for this device

Guessing I'm just using the wrong firmware? If so can anyone point me in the correct direction for the best firmware to install?

Cheers,
Joe

For firmware version 1.79 use the configurator version 0.77.2.3 by the link: http: //ftp.vkb-sim.pro/Programms/

I think you tried to use firmware for BLACK or Vintage Mamba, so have got warning message.
Download batch compilation from here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B1WRiD1czmcHbklBX2hMSEN0bzA. Unzip and use _MambaFat_v1_92_A.vkb.

Sadly, the only 1.92 FW version on that drive is for B, not A. But I was able to download the 1.917 version and apply it successfully to my Fat Mamba after having the same issues as the OP.

Time waits for no one)) B followed A.
Any FW version - if only it is for YOUR model of MAMba.

Ah Ok. I'll pull down the B version later tonight and convert my handle profiles.

Just a quick last question, should my existing button profiles still be compatible? Tried to Load from file and Set on the device but it just locked up Device Config.

I don't think they are. What I do is take screenshots of the configs I have prior to upgrading then manually recreate them once I've updated the firmware. A bit of an annoyance but not that big of a deal.

Yeah that's what I did, had my old profile saved so just loaded it and screenshot. Last time it took me ages to set up but think it was mostly as I had no idea what I was doing, this time it took me 10 mins. I did however forget to update the number of buttons from 32 to 128 which had me confused for quite some time.

Gonna have to have a dog through the manual and experiment with some more complex config.
