Hi all. I just bought a Gladiator (non-Pro, since I'm not prepared to invest in pedals). It's a great-looking stick and plays well, but I've been bothered by looseness on the pitch axis. With the stick centered, it moves freely for several mm forward and backward with almost no pressure without engaging the gimbal. This noticeably muddies the feeling of where the pitch axis begins to input. The roll axis is much tighter.
Is this normal? Is my gimbal defective? Can I tighten it somehow?
Thanks.
Gladiator: Noticeable "jiggle" with stick centered?

Did you get any response to this? I have just got a Gladiator and it too has a large amount on 'play' in the pitch axis. This movement is also not picked up by the sensor, making me think its not the 'intended soft centre' that is described in the FAQ.
What I am experiencing is very similar to this.

I have the same wiggle on mine (Gladiator, non-pro)
I think it's the same as in this post:

That looks exactly like what I experienced with my stick as well. I emailed Stratojet and was more or less told it's expected. It's certainly not the "intended soft centre", it feels like a defect.

Yeah, looks like the same issue described. I had assumed that it was the result of a cheap gimbal. Overall I was left feeling burnt by the purchase and I haven't used the stick much since.

Just curious - what do you guys think VKB HQ should do? I can always run some suggestions by them. Thanks.

Re: Gladiator: Noticeable "jiggle" with stick centered?
I notice the Mk.II has arrived with an improved centering mechanism. So..
- Presuming the Mk.II gimbal resolves this centering/wobble issue.
- Presuming a kit could be produced to upgrade a Mk.I.
Then producing and selling these kits would be a good step. Offering them at a reduced price to Mk.I owners who can demonstrate a significant defect (by sending a video of the stick and WIZZO side by side or similar) would be even better.
In my case, my stick only needed a small deadzone to counter the return to center issue related to the wobble, and the wobble itself doesn't bother me. So I am actually more than happy with my unit, it's the best stick I've yet used and I have tried a fair number of budget and mid-range sticks.

Re: Gladiator: Noticeable "jiggle" with stick centered?
Thanks for the feedback, nrage147! I will ask VKB HQ if they are planning to release a kit to retrofit the Gladiator Mk.I to bring it up to the new Mk.II standard.
EDIT: Already got an answer - and no, they're not planning on such a kit. :/

You mean the gimbal with the new dry clutches from the Gunfighter? Or do you mean the metal gimbal from the Glad Pro or the non-Pro Glad? I can ask VKB HQ.

Not "dry clutch" gimbal(I guess this don't fit inside Gladiator base), but the the "Next Gen" CAM gimbal used in one in Gladiator PRO MK.I as upgrade for Gladiator (Mk.I or Mk.II).
This was mentioned in Il-2(ru) forum, but don't see confirmed.

Try this "fix" posted in Il-2(ru), wrap Teflon tape around this square pole:

Or - if needed - glue the tape only in Y side. This will remove the play in axis center position.
This recipe is used for remove play in CH gimbal.

If you compare the two pictures in the image attached you can clearly see that VKB changed the part that slots into a track (which has been removed in the image) from square to round and slightly larger. Perhaps it has a part number and can be purchased
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28Xif20EsMk This video while quite long clearly shows how to disassemble the unit to access this assembly

I will throw these out there for the anyone looking to experiment. This issue should not be to hard to resolve. Please report any finds good or bad.
