Separate Grip and baseplate and extend cable for DIY project

I'm thinking about purchasing a VKB gladiator EVO Space combat edition for a DIY project.
We make our own center joystick about 50 cm long. It has its own hall effect sensors at the axes. On the top we want to put the aforementioned grip. If we extend the 3 colored cables from there to the VKB baseplate elsewhere we have a beautiful working grip with buttons.
is it possible to extend the cables?

Here you see the grip and baseplate separated from each other. I am aware that in this proposal we will no longer use certain functions of the baseplate.
