The basics:
GF II base, orange black box, SCP Premium R
Analog mini-stick has been swapped for a hat switch
Default cams, default springs.
Firmware 1.97.6 / 1.98.6
I bought grip and base in July 2019, and things work mostly fine. During the last week or so, I started noticing issues with button #3 starting to loose key presses. I still heard the mechanical "click", but nothing happened in game (Elite:Dangerous). Things got worse, and since yesterday evening, the button is dead. Nothing in game, nothing in config tool, nothing in the button tester, nothing in the joy tester. I even fired up the Windows joy.cpl, but nothing there, either. The other 26 buttons of the grip work fine, but button 3 is dead. For clarity, I am talking about the secondary fire button, that shows up as button #3 in the VKB Config tool with the default set-up:
Already tried:
- reboot
- power cycle
- connect the black box to a powered USB hub instead of an on-board port
- reset to default and re-calibrate using the VKB config tool
- re-flash and re-calibrate with the firmware installed at purchase, i.e 1.97.6
- update VKB Config tool and flash/calibration with the new firmware 1.98.6
I opened the grip, but there are no obvious signs of a problem.
I have opened a support ticket (#1988), but based on advice from the HOTAS discord and my experience with another support ticket (#1919) that has not been touched since I submitted it 20 days ago, I am asking here as well to see if anybody has any useful advice. I'm especially interested in any kind of electrical plan, i.e. information along the lines "if that button is pressed, you should see a contact between pin X and pin Y". It has been some time, but I still remember how to use a DMM.

Re: SCG Pro button #3 died
No reaction at all to ten presses of button #3 on the Profile/Button/Physical tab or the Test/Buttons tab. After the ten presses of #3, I pressed another random button to double-check that the thing reacts at all. I have recorded video, but the file is too large to attach. It can be downloaded from https://drive.google.com/open?id=1atynD_YIwdNZYA2P9KWOIhgUfWYzWufE
