Specifically with the Space Combat edition premium grip.
So it makes use of:
All 8 axes allowed by a single direct input device. They are also all max precision and stable with predefined curves making these feel like a different stick altogether.
Almost the full 128 buttons allowed by direct input.
All 4 POV hats that direct input allows are used.
The default profile button layout has been preserved, so if you have been using that you can switch to this profile and not have to rebind anything.
A keyboard and mouse mode for the ministick. Complete with left and right click.
The keyboard mode allows for a basic FPS movement in games where you get out of a vehicle. Also some amenities for menu navigation and other misc tasks like looking around, camera controls, etc...
This all handled by 27 boolean block logic featuring 3 independent button groups with an intuitive interface that is quick to switch between button group modes. (of there are 9)
And there is a right and left version so if you have two sticks all of this is doubled...
Details for the right stick are below:
So when you first load up the profile you will not see any lights on at all. This is a personal preference of mine. If this is not yours then go to global then leds, And then the very first led event line change led mode from off to constant. After that "set" the changes and you will have the usual blue led on at the top of the stick on all the time. This shade of blue is different than other modes so no worries there.
Lets start with the base:
Holding F3 down will cause both of the red and blue base lights to flash indicating a mode change. Repeat this to cycle between modes. Short pressing f3 will cause it to do it's normal button 29 push
There are three modes here:
No blue light is the default mode.
Blue light mode is mode 2.
And a flashing blue light is mode 3.
These modes are completely independent of the grip modes. Each mode adds another layer to all of the base's hardware except for F3.
The throttle wheel will control 3 different axis in these modes. With the exception of the main mode all the other modes will have their axes position saved when switching to a different mode. I couldn't save the main axis position due to a bug in VKBDevCfg where you can't switch an axis that has already been switched. So the Z axis will be set to 0 when changing modes as a result.
Now on to the grip modes:
Short pressing B1 will send it's usual button 4 output, but holding B1 will light up the center led orange indicating it's ready for a mode change. From there all you need to do is to press a direction on the center hat. There are 5 modes to choose from:
0/Center/No light: Default mode (will be light blue mode if you changed led event 1 to constant)
1/Up/Red: This also sets the center to use POV 1
2/Right/Blue: This also sets the center to use POV 2
3/Down/White: This also sets the center to use POV 3
4/Left/Magenta: This also sets the center to use generic buttons as POV 4 is used for mouse functionality
Each of these modes adds a new layer to the both center hat and the upper right hat. This essentially gives you 8 additional hats to work with.
Mouse and keyboard mode:
At any time you can center push the analog stick in to switch on mouse mode and subshift 7. This will light the small led on the upper left of the stick. At the same time keyboard mode will activate along with subshift 6 and the center led will change to green indicating this.
From here the ministick will act like a mouse and the rapid fire trigger will be your mouse buttons. Press down for right click and press up for left click.
The keybinds are as follows:
Center hat: wasd, with center push being F.
Upper right hat: arrow keys, with center push being enter.
Trigger: Shift W with secondary being space bar.
Pinky finger: i as in inventory
Red Button: Escape
Lower Grey Hat: Generic buttons ready for you to assign keys of your choice to. The center button does not have a keyboard mode bind on the left stick.
At any time you may choose to long press B1 and change your grip mode if you want to exit keyboard mode and get your buttons back. This will leave mouse mode on and the rapid fire triggers will still do mouse clicks as long as mouse mode is on.
Pushing the analog stick in again with exit mouse mode and keyboard mode as well and return you to whatever color mode you were in before.
The only difference between the right and left sticks is that button 128 indicates a 90% throttle for the left stick. This will light up the red led on the base as well. I use this to indicate or engage an afterburner. On the right stick button 128 is the center button for the grey lower hat and the red base led doesn't do much.
I don't have any modules, so I don't know if they work on a virtual controller with a different button grid or share the button grid with the base. So if you have modules connected this profile may or may not be for you.
Anyway, I would love to hear some feedback/suggestions on this if you gave it a try.
