I was just looking over some newer STECS videos, and I've been trying to think of where I want to map my zoom control for DCS whenever I'm able to order one.
I've been flying with the F-14 grip, and I've found that its DLC axis is absolutely perfect for the zooming function because it returns to the normal zoom level as soon as I release my thumb. There are only two real issues that I have with it. The first, of course, is that it means I can't use the DLC axis for the actual DLC if I'm using it to zoom. And second, if I need to use my right thumb for something else while remaining zoomed in. So having an identical or very similar control on my left hand would be amazing!
Maybe I'm mistaken, but the wheel encoders/axis does not self-center, correct?
Thank you for the consideration!
P.S. A secondary request would be to give the option for the STEM's "Self-centering 3-position flip switch" to be replaced with a simple 2-position flip switch... because forgetful pilots like me don't always remember if we have our gear/flaps up or down
