Space Trucker/Combat.... STECS/Omni setup parallel operation?

Hi,
I'm setting up my rig and in my left hand I have either a STECS Mini+ or an Omni Throttle. This gear is unbelievable. Just awesome.
I use the STECS for space trucking and transport and when I feel like picking a fight I'll use the Omnithrottle. But I am currently selecting the hardware before I even start the game. For example, in Elite Dangerous I'll use profile A (Omni Throttle and SCG) for combat and profile B (STECS and SCG).
How can I streamline this? The big thing is the throttle. I can't duplicate the throttle axes in the ED setup so is this where a "Shift key sort of thing would work? Where shift state A would be STECS controls and shift state B could be Omni controls?
Do you know what I mean? I'm not even sure if I'm asking the right question the right way. Yeah, newbie.
