Question regarding the Upgrade Kit Lite

Postby Falkner » Sat Jun 10, 2023 5:41

So, I have a Gladiator Mk. II (non-Pro) and would like to get a grip with more buttons for it. I know that I need the Upgrade Kit Lite for that. The SCG that I recently had in my hands seemed a little too small to be comfortable, so I looked at the MCG Pro, which seems a little larger.
So far, so good.

However, I'm getting mixed messages regarding compatibility.
The European store page for the grip states that it is compatible with "converted Gladiator non-Pro (using Upgrade Kit Lite)". The American page only mentions Gunfighter bases.
The European store page for the Upgrade kit states that it is only compatible with the SCG, while the American one states that it is compatible with all Gunfighter grips.
On top of all that, the Upgrade Kits look different in both stores.

So, who do I trust?

Technically it's compatible with all the grips, except MCG Ultimate. Recommended grips are all excluding MCG Pro and Ultimate.
The reason is that the MCG grips are too heavy and tall for the gimbal of the original Gladiator non Pro.

So I take it that there is a risk of the gimbal breaking?
I may still do it then (understanding that if something goes wrong, it's not on VKB) and upgrade to a Gunfighter base somewhere down the line.

Thank you for your reply.

Not necessarily, if you're careful. It's just that the grip is too tall and heavy and the joystick will feel floppy.

Would the #30 springs you sell work with the gimbal? That should counter the floppiness, right?

The MKII has its own springs, they're kind of a 5 comparing to the NXT set (10, 20, 30). Can't have anything heavier than 10 springs on it, as the gimbal is not reinforced, like NXT's.
