Hello everyone, I think I found the cure.
Take them apart facing upright, Spray WD-40 and play with the pins push them in out until free, clean with a Q-tip and done.

Yeah a blinking red light on the black box generally indicates a problem in the connection between the base and grip. It could be in the pins or also in one of the wire connectors inside the grip.
