Can anyone advise what to buy a nd why? I play ww2 games but what am I missing if I buy the less expensive ww2 combat vkb vs the f14 or some other more expensive vkb?

That really depends on you. Both KG12 and F-14 are replica grips, first with 8, the second with 15 buttons. There's also the Kosmosima SCG grip, a general, ergonomic grip with 27 buttons and another replica, MCG Pro and Ultimate, with 35 buttons. The Ultimate grip is metal and comes with 2 modular replaceable hat switches.
For WWII there's also a German throttle replica available.
