Is there a way to make the pov hat act like an x axis, I want to use it for the rudder on dcs, as of now I can set it to work as buttons but think I would rather it work as an x axis

The ministick is has analog/axes mode built in, together with digital/POV. What grip do you have and which ministick are you referring to?

Then yes, there are 2 modes on it - POV/digital mode by default and analog/axes mode if you press on the center button (the round LED will turn on while in axes mode). For more tips and tricks on programming the ministicks, here.
