After a few moves, the F14 has finally come out of storage. I was thinking about getting back into DCS, and went to set up my F14 grip, but noticed that it has a flat edge on one side of the grip fastener slot, whereas the gunfighter has a full circle. Does the F14 come with a different grip fastener than the others, or am I just being too cautious?

Yes, it is, check your box again, a flat side fastener is included in the grip's accessories. You could use a flat sided fastener instead of a round fastener, but not the other way.
