Re: Button box
Maybe, but it needs more buttons and switches. I realize it’s hard to satisfy everyone and in the end a design of compromises is mediocre. But imagine a system where your switches, dials , and buttons are each individually the same size and have lego block connectability. The electrical contacts could be on the underside of each lego block and they could plug onto a lego base (remember those flat green things where you could build a lego house on?) the lego base could be a PCb.
Or the components could plug into each other ,side by side, share a common bus through contacts on the sides. The components could be addressable and there could be a small controller that provides the usb interface.
This way each person could build the controller button box they want with\ exactly the nu\mber of dials, switches, and buttons they want in any shape they want

Re: Button box
That's exactly what the NXT modules are doing; you could use them separately or more of them linked together, the max being dictated the Windows' buttons and axes limitation.
Re: Button box
ok. pardon my ignorance. The thing you linked tho was a lever and some switches. I guess that gets plugged onto something, eh? And you can 'gang' a bunch of them together, right? Is something like this available already??

Re: Button box
These are the 3 modules that are getting ready these days for the official release. One could use a single module, all 3 of them or several of the same type either connected to USB individually or linked together (but in this case the Windows' buttons and axes limitation applies).
