Anyone Playing Mechwarrior 5? Need some advice!

Postby LordSkeletor » Sat Feb 29, 2020 7:55

Just picked up a Gunfighter MKIII Modern Combat Edition Pro. I searched the forum threads, but there's really only one post and the use of this stick with that game (it runs on Unreal 4) is dependent upon custom programming/setting up a HOTAS config file which will allow the game to recognize the stick. Anyone have any hints/experience on how to do this? I could use your help/assistance if you know how.

Thanks!

I use an SCG, and a virpil throttle, with MW5. I started out with trying to create the appropriate HOTASMappings file for both, but ended up running into a lot of back & forth trying to get the AXIS lines right, and then some problems with axes sticking and not responding. What I ended up doing was creating a HOTASMappings entry instead for vjoy, and then using joystick gremlin to map the SCG and throttle to the various vjoy buttons and axes. That ended up being a lot more reliable, and it also gave me the ability to set up lots of macros with joystick gremlin that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise.

Yeah, I ended up using the stock version of the community-edited joystick files.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jjT ... A5G8/edit#

Of course, they didn't include my joystick when I tried loading the "SAVEDHOTAS" file profile for the VKB Gunfighter Mk.III with SCG ‘Kosmosima’ grip.
I had to change the PID and VID numbers (easily found by going to the control panel in windows) for the joystick and found that the number was just one digit off:

VID: 231D
PID: 0126

to

VID: 231D
PID: 0125

and it now recognizes the stick. Now I just need to find a way to get the software to recognize the metal brake lever on the MCG Pro Gunfighter as a BUTTON and I'll be set!
Can that even be done, I wonder? Should I post a thread in General about that, you think?
