I have the MCG Pro grip and I've come to understand I would have preferred the non-pro for the simple buttons rather then these hat switches. The buttons would be more precise and easier to use IMO.

Is there a way I can get the buttons or would someone like to trade (though mine is the rev 1. )

You can disable Pro HAT switch functions (axes, HAT) and use them as button set only. It is simply enough. I can help with settings if you want to try.
