Two #50 Springs

Postby FlyBoyd » Fri Aug 31, 2018 0:31

Hello,

In order to get the right feel for me on the MCG Gunfighter Pro I installed two of the #50 springs on each axis. I am using the extension.

I just wanted to make sure that this would not affect anything or damage anything on the stick?

Someone had mentioned that the max load on each axis was #80. Is that true?

Thanks!

Don't worry. Can install 2 springs #50 on each axis.

Hello,

I read somewhere in IL2 forums that VKB max number was 80 for the springs on one axis.
Better if we can use 100 :D

What is correct ?

Have Fun

How do I buy #20 springs with shipping to EU? No springs at EU store and Us store doesnt ship to EU. Aliexpress charges 15 $ for shipping for 5$ springs. Insane. Show your support VKB.

Either this, or we can send the springs to our EU dealer along with the nearest shipment, but there is no exact date when this is going to happen. Anyway, contact the dealer first, and don't take no for an answer: it is his job to order spare parts from us if there is a need for them in his area.

The problem is it was promised months ago and nothing happened. I will need assistance from higher position at VKB.

I'm glad to hear that, I'll ask Edouard to add additional spring to my GF order.

I guess the answer will be no but, just to make sure.. No problem with warranty if we put 2x50 on each axis? Cause on the NA site we can read :
– Up to 2x #40 springs can be used per cam / axis (metal gimbal only)

Thanks

Well they claimed you can use metal warthog grip on gladiator pro (with adapter and stronger springs). But it is a heavy grip and one guy ripped apart whole gymbal mechanism with that grip.

Right now you're getting assistance from the highest position at VKB besides the business owner.
We talked to the dealer. Contact him and order the springs either from him or through Ali - unfortunately there are no other means of shipment; either fast but dear, or cheap but slow.
Chances are, there might be springs in the cargo that is right this very moment docking at Rotterdam - I'm not sure, but the dealer will know it. If yes, then lucky you are :D

Just my opinion here. I'm a simple wrench turner, not an engineer. My years of experience dealing with broken mechanical things tells me this is a bad idea. Now officially the word is you can use a pair of 50s on each axis. Having had the GF gimbal apart a few times I gotta say, I just don't see those little posts putting up with that amount of force for very long. Tack on a stick extension and now you've added a fair amount of leverage to the equation. There was a pic posted here some time ago that showed a badly bent post. So it can happen!

If you're coming to the GF from say a TM force sensing stick and are trying to replicate that "feel" with spring tension keep in mind that this gimbal is not that gimbal. Yeah the TM is only plastic but I just think you're asking an awful lot of those little posts. Of course it's your money but I just think that amount of tension is a recipe for a trashed gimbal. Might want to factor in how long you might have to wait for a replacement if things go wrong. If it were me I'd get used to less tension on my very expensive stick rig! YMMV

For the Gunfighter Mk.II, the maximum is 2x #40 (or 1x #50 and 1x #30) spring per axis. I would not recommend anything different, especially not 2x #50 springs per axis.
If you desire a little more resistance closer to the center, play with the dry clutches as well (the springs provide increasing resistance closer to the end of he stick movement instead).

But the MkI (RevA) with extension is good for 2×#50 per axis according @UIV 's post above?

Or is that statement no longer valid?

I'll need to take mine apart anyway when I switch from Warthog grip to MCG-pro, so it would be nice to get clarification on the maximum spring option.
