This topic is aimed at the VKB engineers, especially Ilya (UIV):

Is it possible for VKB to design some form of dampener that allows an extended Mamba or other future VKB flight controls to have a more "stiff" center compared to the rather loose feeling of the current extended sticks?

I love my Mamba MkIII with its extension, but I do not like the very loose feeling of its center, as it is only held by the springs on the gimbal. Some external dampeners might help to give a stick with extension a more solid feel around the center. Here's a mockup that I made to illustrate this idea (see image attached).

So, is this possible for VKB to design something like this to retrofit my "Extended Mamba" with?

Would be amazing if we could have something like that. Not only for existing Mamba + Extension users as a retrofit item, but also for the future Gunfighter + Extension users as a purchasing option!

Of course, the longer throw of the extended stick needs to be considered so that these dampers do not "bottom out" or limit the stick movement in any way.

Two optional (interchangeable) damper types come to mind here: 1) a spring type damper that basically provides additional stiffness around the rather loose center of the extended stick and gets slightly stiffer the more you push the stick to its extremes, and 2) a type of damper that acts like a hydraulic damper that could hold the stick in position wherever you let go of the stick. Maybe both of those could be combined into one? Just thinking about ideas here.

Oh, I see. I think when you rotate those like you suggested that would mean that 2x springs/dampers are active at the same time when rolling and pitching, right?

Yep I thought about that, would mean 2 springs are active when moving direct down an axis... I'm not sure if this would be best. Needs testing!

Would be nice if this could be changed by the user by simply twisting the device and it would snap into place 45degs off; could be toggled back and forth as desired.

To be fair, the necessary holes would be drilled out already so it would take about 8 seconds for the user to rotate it by 45degrees!
