all the description of this stick says is modular hat design. I assume it is an 8 way hat???
And how is "modular" design advantageous?

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
so, there's no looking front degrees 0-45-90-135-180-235-270-360? As there is with an 8 way hat, or is there another way that is done on the f14 stick?
TIA

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
No corner inputs, if that's what you're asking. F-14 is a replica grip, so it's scarce in controls, same as the original was. The ministick on the SCG grip would work as you wish; SCG grip is a very ergonomic grip suitable for general use in both flight and space sims.
Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
do you mean this one with the standard grip for $135?
Gladiator NXT EVO ‘Space Combat Edition’ w/ SCG Standard Right grip
but it has multiple hats but they are all 4 way hats is that correct?

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
The SCG Standard grip has only 4 ways hat switches with center push. The SCG Premium comes with a ministick which has 2 modes: 8 way hat and axes, swapped by pressing the center push button.
More about the ministick here.

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
what is meant by "Axes" in relation to the hat switch?
Please and thank you

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
The 8 way switch can be used as either a hat switch or when pressed and red light on, it acts as a mini joystick ( x,y axes ) . This 8 way switch doesn't have those kinda detents like you have on most 4 or 8 way hat switches, it is smooth rotation along all axis ( if that makes sense )
Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
does that mean, If I am using it to view battle, the view "sweeps" around rather than clicking on a set angle? And by that I mean, I may push at an angle of 37.5 degrees and that 's the view I get?
also, thanks for the video, it intimidated me...does the stick come preset with all default functions? I may be to old for a stick like this

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
The ministick has 2 modes: POV and axes. In POV mode you could bind it in game to 8 fixed view positions (or to anything else you’d want). In axes mode you could map it to view around, up/down and left/right. Swapping between the 2 modes is made by pressing the center button. No need for any changes, as the SCG grip comes set up like this by default.
Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
Sorry. I am confused:
GNX SCG Premium Grip
Compact grip design – Perfect for tabletop joysticks
Lockable Twist (Z-axis) with contactless MaRS sensor
1 Dual Action Trigger
1 Rapid Fire Trigger
3 Hat switches with center push (4-way)
3 buttons
1 analog mini stick with center push (8-way)
Programmable red color LED
2 interchangeable palm rests (total 3 palm-size adjustments)
Programmable RGB LED
Extra button module for C1 position
Extra hat switch module for A1 position
this says 4 way hats. If I push tthe center button does it become an 8 way hat???
Thanks for your patience.

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
Yes. In the EVO version on the base (base), there is only one encoder left. HAT 8way or 4way is pre-configured in the configurator, no on-the-fly switching is provided, only either axis or HAT.
Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
Hey ArtDev,
There are three 4 way hat switches with the NXT EVO Premium( Space grip ), in the diagram shown by Ron61, they are A4,A3,C1. There is a 8 way hat switch A1 which is the button on the top left of that diagram ( it is not labelled in the diagram but that is the designation given to it by VKB ). If you look at the diagram and the description for that button, that is the one that if you push it in it can be switched to an " axis " control, hence where the red light indicator comes in, to tell you if you are in the pov ( hat switch ) or axis mode. If you like, you can change that 8 way hat switch out with a 4 way hat switch that comes in the premium package. There are how to videos on this, pretty simple.
Personally, I find this stick gives you enough buttons and then some for about all your needs in whatever you fly. I fly, IL2, DCS and Condor 2.
Hope this helps .

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
thanks.
does the stick work right out of the box when you plug into IL2? I haven't tried it yet. One of the reasons I bought this stick is that both my old sticks flew IL2 plane right into the ground no matter what I tried.

Re: Gladiator NXT EVO ‘F-14 Combat Edition’
Not really, there are a few steps:
1. Assemble the joystick like shown in the Quick Start guide (doesn't matter the grip could be different, the procedure is the same);
2. Set up and calibrate the joystick like here;
3. Bind the controls in game.
