MCG Pro w/ Twist Height Question

Postby Simalacrum » Fri Feb 26, 2021 4:28

I've been planning on purchasing either the MCG Pro w/ twist or the SCG, I'm leaning more towards the MCG one because I prefer having more buttons than hats and such. But it says on the site that the SCG has a more low profile design, so I assume it's smaller in height compared to the MCG. I'm planning on just using it on a desktop, so height could be an issue if it's too tall. I want to ask, just how tall is the MCG Pro w/ twist is, like from the desk to the top of the stick? I emailed VKB directly about this and they replied and said that the one he has is about 22cm or about 8in or so, but he was using it on a mounted stick on a sim rig. So I don't know if that 22cm already includes that desktop gimbal base thing or just the grip and twist alone.

They're both alright for desk use, but it depends on 3 things: how high the desk is, how high the chair is, how tall you are. On a high desk and low chair combination both SCG and MCG (or any other joystick) would feel awkward. Best would be to have your palm in straight line with your arm when gripping the stick; if the arm hangs too low then it will get tired and start pressing on the twist, the fingers won't reach the buttons on the top, grip motion wouldn't be smooth.

See for yourself: :)

Thanks for replying. On the MCG, more or less would you say that at the 9-10 inch mark would be where your index/thumb would be, meaning your hand would be around the 6-8 inch mark? Because I will be trying, more or less to simulate it on my desk and see if my elbow and arm would be comfortable in this position. This MCG in the picture is already with a twist attachment?

Alright, thanks fallout, I think the MCG will be fine for me as well. Tried holding my hand out at that height and my elbows could still reach the table unless pushing the stick forward, so I think it'll be fine overall. I don't think I'll get some arm fatigue when using it in long gaming sessions.
