How to flash and calibrate your Gladiator NXT

Postby fallout9 » Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:24

1. Download the configurator;
2. Download the bootloader;
3. Download the firmware package;
4. Unzip all the 3 files in the same folder;
5. Launch VKBDevCfg as Admin and click the Bootloader button under Tools tab;
6. Navigate to the firmware file folder and load up the file called _Gladiator_NXT_v2_09_0.vkb;
7. After the bootloader finishes the flashing process launch VKBDevCfg and click the Default button under Tools tab;
8. Navigate to Global/Devices/External Devices and press the Find&AutoConfig button;
9. Go to Test/Axes1 tab and click on the Start Calibr button;
10. Move your pitch, roll and yaw axes all the way, slowly at the end;
11. Move the mini-throttle up and down;
12. Press the A1 ministick center button and when the LED turns red move the ministick all over;
13. Press the End Calibr button.

Trying to update my Gladiator NXT. I noticed that there are two firmware files, once of which says OTA

_Gladiator_NXT_OTA_v2_11_5.vkb
_Gladiator_NXT_v2_11_5.vkb

which one do i pick?

The firmware OTA labeled is for NXTs with OTA. The other one is for regular NXTs.

Make sure the bootloader device is selected in the lower half of the window before pressing Flash It! button.

Need more info on the issue, like what device you have, what firmware version you're running. Some screenshots would help.

Where do I start? I have the configurator manual that shows "VKB NJoy32 XT2 PRO" This Device Config file I downloaded says "XT2" No "PRO" I put all of the files in the same folder and "Bootloader not found. Must run manually!" I have the R and L Gladiators. For starters where is the "Pro" version? Thanks.

How old are your Gladiators? Are they NXT or NXT EVO? If not sure, you could post a pic with them.

I recently upgraded my operating system from Linux Mint 19.2 Xfce to Mint 21.1 Xfce. Now my Gladiator nxt pro doesn't work properly. Not sure if it's a problem with the stick, or the new OS, or the new version of Wine.

So, I tried to update my firmware just in case that might be part of the problem. When I try to flash it, I get the error message "Read CPUID FAILED - STOP".
I've included an screenshot.

Any ideas on why it won't update my firmware?

Thanks

Need to know exactly what device you have, so I could recommend the proper firmware. There's no such thing as Gladiator NXT Pro :)) (there's a Gladiator NXT and a Gladiator Pro, but they're completely different devices).

It looks like the screenshot I attached to my previous post didn't make it through.

The stick is a "VKBsim Gladiator NXT R v01.11 Lite", according to the Bootloader.

I was attempting to flash it with this file: "Gladiator_NXT_v2_14_A.vkb"

Try using the latest versions of VKBDevCfg and zBootloader.

Same exact results.

As an aside, the stick works perfectly on a Windows install, so I'm reasonably certain the problem is with my Linux/Wine software.

Howdy,

Just wanted to let you know I got the firmware updated on my VKB Gladiator NXT. I used a Windows PC to do it.

Apparently, the VKB software doesn't like Linux at all. It will install on Linux, and it will boot up and run, but it won't talk to the Joystick. At least not for me.

Anyway, problem solved.
