Kosmosima Grip:Anyone modded a 4 way hat into an 8 way?

Tried searching but couldn't find anything here. Although I found a post where someone said they shimmed a 4 way hat switch as an experiment, with a small flathead screwdriver and managed to register an up-right position.
So the question is, has anyone managed to modify the gates of the Kosmosima grip 4-way hat in order to enable them to function like an 8-way hat? I would imagine filing away certain spots of plastic.

Oh, forgot to add, mine is on its way, so I have no physical device to look at right now, otherwise I would take it apart to see for myself, but thought I might get a headstart and ask here prior to its arrival.
