Configure trimmer +- 1 step on each press?

Postby dabinn » Wed Oct 14, 2020 11:50

Hi,
I use dual stick setup, and use Y axis of left hand stick as throttle.
My question is, I tried to configure Y axis trimmed on every 25% step, for example, to be able to trim 75% throttle while the Y axis is centered with several button pressed.
But I noticed that the 'Trimmer+-' function increase/decrease the trim percentage continuously when the button is pressed, and it seems have no way to be only 1 step with 1 press.
So now I can only use 'Trimmer Set +-' function to set a desire value, but it needs lots of buttons to set each value.
Is it possible to configure trimmer to only go 1 step up/down on each button press?

Not quite clear what you're trying to achieve, could you tell what game you're preparing this for?

For example, Star Wars: Squadron has max turning speed at 50% throttle. Now I use "Trimmer SET" to set different trim on left hand Y-axis , 50% at Y-axis center for combat, 0% at center for normal cruise.
In Elite:Dangerous, 75% throttle is best for approaching a target in super cruise mode.
So I would like to leave the joystick at center, and increase/decrease trim to have different throttle speed by 25% to fit different game needs.

Thanks for your reply :D

You'd have to use a few buttons to achieve that, but if you're running short of buttons you could assign a Shift to a hat. Another approach is to have a different profile for each of those 2 games and run the E:D profile by assigning a shifted hat in game to speed 0/25/50/75 and SWSq profile by making a nice curve for throttle axis with a larger deadzone in the middle.
In my case I only need the 75% control in E:D, so I assign that to a button. In SWSq I run with a deadzone of 4 on the throttle axis.

Seems It hard to make a universal setup for games while only "Trimmer Set" function can fit this purpose. Shift is kind of slow, I may use different profile although is not convenient while switching games frequently.
Anyway, thank you for the explanation. :D
