building / setting up SCG to base

Is there a video I can't seem to find that shows exactly how to set up my new Gunfighter Mk.III (space combat edition) for tabletop use? I think I am supposed to attach something from the side then use an allen key to tighten it and remove the dust cover (rubber seal ??) to tighten the damper screw. Instructions could be more clearly illustrated and explained. Thanks in advance

I hope you'd find these instructions clear enough and properly explained.

Thank you fallout9. I skipped to the end and saw how he put it back together. The paper instructions in the box mention to tighten the damper screws. I am assuming that is not for initial set up. Looks like I should be able to connect it to my pc and I can try to configure to flight simulator. Cheers

Would personally like to thank you for this response. Answered a number of questions for this new VKB owner. :D

Hey Fallout,

I do have another question. I'm finally getting around to getting this bad boy setup (unfortunate power supply/video card disaster, thanks to Corsair) and am looking into updating the firmware. I believe I need to flash the _BlackBox_GF_SCG_L_v2_00_7.vkb firmware based on some educated assumptions (my black box truly is a black box and not orange, and the file name seems to make sense based on some other cues), but you know the old saying 'trust but verify.' I'm hoping all that money I spent on a college degree has led me down the right path so far

For reference I'm rocking the Gunfighter Mk.III ‘Space Combat Edition’ w/ SCG Premium-R(ight) Grip (3-pin Rev.B)

If your BB is black, not orange, then you need to select the firmware with the letters MK2 in the name. And according to the installed grip. This, I hope, you already understand.

Right, it's a Gunfighter MK3 base with a Space Combat Grip (SCG) grip installed. Based on the available firmware I pulled from the VKB site (it's just a zip file with everything dumped in it) I figured it's had to be one from of the following:

_BlackBox_GF_SCG_L_v2_00_7.vkb
_BlackBox_GF_SCG_v2_00_7.vkb
_BlackBox_MK2_GF_SCG_L_v2_00_7.vkb
_BlackBox_MK2_GF_SCG_v2_00_7.vkb (ultimately I flashed this file and things seem to be working fine in the VKB_JoyTester utility)
_Gladiator_SCG_L_v2_00_7.vkb
_Gladiator_SCG_v2_00_7.vkb

I knew it wasn't the _Gladiator_SCG_v2_00_7 file. What does the GF designation stand for - is that for the original Gunfighter base? That's where I was split since there wasn't a MKIII specific file anywhere available in the file dump.

File List I'm looking at for reference:

I am very new to this and have noticed my GF3 SCG grips are not updated to the latest firmware:
Product Name: VKB-Sim Space Gunfighter L
PRO version
Firmware version: v1.997

I am looking at the same zip file as you and have selected these two files for my respective joysticks.

If I am reading things right the filenames are designating the following:
_BlackBox_MK2 = black coloured black box unit (as opposed to the orange metal one)
_GF = any gunfighter base (as opposed to a Gladiator base)
SCG_L = the grip - in this case it is the Kosmosima Left Hand
v2_00_7.vkb = the firmware version

Just me wrapping my head around it, as you've probably figured this stuff out already.

EDIT: Have just successfully flashed it
