To understand each other, it is necessary that the layout of the buttons was the same for both. At the logical level, the default layout looks like in the picture. You have it already corrected with automapping, which is not right. It is worth resetting and continue the conversation.

thanks guys...

Each time I have gone back to the default profile. I do notice that I have to go into my POV section to change my POV #2 from discrete to Lowres 8w and change the X and Y to get the 2nd POV to register on the test section. Not sure if that is a cause or a sign of my troubles.

Depending on how much functionality you need, you could possibly use xpadder here.

The shifted and Unshifted states would both have to key presses/mouse buttons that match with the game assignments.
