How do you space pilots pull off strafe maneuvers?

I mean, sliding your ship sideways without yawing.
Or, going up or down (whatever you call “up” and “down” in space ) without altering your pitch and roll attitude.

What controls do you use for that?
It’s a straightforward question, but there’s no equally straightforward answer.
Every space pilot customizes his controls to suit his own style.

The need for a control device that enables these moves in a way that’s both ergonomic and anatomically sound, has always been clear.

Because here’s a new control device, designed specifically with strafing in mind.

VKB STG - Space Throttle Grip.
For righties and for lefties.



Forward and back, you rock the lever, using your shoulder muscles, as they're stronger at the cost of being less precise; but when it comes to strafing, here comes the precision only attainable by hand muscles.

Just a question tough, will it go as a full package or just and upgrade kit for existing STECS, or both?

Most probably next week. The EU store will provide am air drop product until they will receive regular stock.

It will come as a basic throttle, with grip and base, but, if you already have a STECS version, you can swap the grip.

I know you can't give dates or progress reports. Can you just say if linear axis STECS base with electronic detent is still intended for eventual release?

I'm well served by a LH lateral Kosmo Prem. But I'd ADD a linear throttle as a further option, because First World Choices! A rotary axis one isn't as compelling an alternative.

Looks cool! Shame there is no rubber boot between the throttle grip and the thrust axis lever it's attached to, it would look even better. I'm guessing you guys tested it, and it interfered with sensitivity?

Will it be the other way around? Will there be a STECS grip if you buy the space throttle base?

Yes, both grips will be in stores.

Any idea when these will be available in Australia?

Thank you all, a lot. As a left-handed player, as a space sim player, this is a dream. Just a left-handed throttle, it was crazy, I was hoping for that for years <3 But the innovative approach for additional axes makes it even better, perfect.

Can't wait to see it pop on the EU store, I think I will refresh the store 10 times a day (maybe an hour) for the coming weeks.

The STG is available in the US store now, any news on the EU store? Thanks.

As usual, because the EU store receives the stock by sea, it's slower. But they're doing their best to get stock ASAP.
