VKB-Link Issues & API/External events

Postby Audumla » Fri Feb 06, 2026 2:07

I have recently moved over to using VKB sticks for playing Elite Dangerous. After navigating the software and the manual I finally managed to configure both sticks to work as a single virtual stick mirroring the events from Slave to Master using VKB-Link. My setup is Master (VKB Gladiator EVO L Omni) and Slave (VKB Gladiator EVO R)

These are some of the issues I have encountered so far;

1. POV events on the Analog HAT are not sent to the master via VKB-Link
Even setting the Analog Hat as virtual buttons still does not send the virtual button events via VKB-Link to the Master
A Work around is to mirror the Slave Hat buttons (via Boolean functions) to a different set of Virtual buttons on the Slave. This then sends the mirrored button events via VKB-Link to the Master.
However! The Master will always receive axis change events regardless of the state of the Slave HAT (Analog/POV). The axis events are not registered when testing the slave directly, but are sent and seen on the Master. This results in the Master firing both axis and button events when triggering the HAT on the slave.

2. VKB-Link often needs to be restarted after waking from sleep as the Master does not receive Slave event after computer wakes up.

3. VKBDevCfg crashes after writing new config to a stick if that stick is hidden.

Other points;
1. I do love the sticks, however the configuration software is the most difficult/complex software I have encountered for setting up a consumer hardware device.

2. The manual desperately needs an overhaul or rewrite. It is often extremely hard to interpret what is being described and the language/grammar is (being generous) not very good.

3. I would really like to be able to send events to the sticks externally, or have the sticks shift states configurable using external events. For example, if i have macros that are dependent on a state within the game I am playing I would like to be able to send or read that state to the stick. It would be very helpful to be have an API available or something perhaps in VKB-Link that can be called to set Shift/Sub-Shift states.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the resolving issues I have mentioned above and how to interact with sticks externally?
