Pedals error read CPUID issue

I've had some T Mk 4 pedals for some time.
They worked out of the box so I saw no need to configure them...although I do feel that there is a lack of documentation and I watched an official VKB configuration vid that was useless.
Only last week I found out that they should have configurator software, bootloader etc, so I downloaded them from the VKB site.
Now the pedals are no longer recognised by Windows, and the configurator comes up with an 'error read CPUID' then seems to freeze.
It also said that the firmware was out of date and needed updating but I can't do that because of the above. It says NJoy32 platform v 00.56.
Could somebody advise me what to do? Thx. I'm not mega-techie.

Your controller is ready to receive firmware. Launch bootloader and use it. First of all you MUST read UserGuide.

When I launch the bootloader and navigate to the firmware update (I have tried Black Box MK 2 unified v2_19_6.vkb, and also...TRudder_v2_19_6.vkb).
I just get !!! Device Signature Not correct Flash Fail !!!
Where do I find the correct firmware version, or is it some other issue?

Might be from that batch that had a null device signature. Those came with the T-Rudders for a while IIRC.

Please follow Alex's instructions and type "save" in the file box of zbootloader. Just "save", nothing else. Then upload the op1 file that appears in your zbootloader folder. a VKB employee can take a look at that and give you further instructions to fix your issue.

OK, I eventually managed to generate this file.
But now it won't let me upload it: I get 'invalid file extension: op1'

Thanks, next:
Load your op2 file:

Could you be a bit more specific about what I am supposed to do?
Also what the correct outcome will be?
I haven't a clue what I am doing.
I've loaded that Op2 file into the bootloader, and restarted the configurator app but I am still getting the same error message.

Like before, you do not pick the op2 file in the regular file selector, you type "load" (and only load) into the file box while your black box is in bootloader mode. A file selector should open as soon as you type the "d", select the OP2 file in that and it should now accept the firmware
