Connecting a USB number pad to base

Good afternoon, this might be an odd question, nut would there be a way to use/convert the connectors on the base of the NXT Gladiator to connect a USB number pad? I’d like to have one near the stick but want to save on cable clutter on my desk top. Thank you so much!
