VKB Config Axis Input question for Ron

Postby 1sascha » Sat Jul 13, 2024 11:36

I haven't touched VKB Config in about a year, so when I went back in there yesterday, of course I had forgotten how exactly I set my MCGP's custom profile and where in the configurator's UI to find all the functions I touched when creating the profile.

The thing is: I noticed that when I used one specific profile for the grip, my slew control's Y-axis ("Rot Z") was disabled. It did not do anything in games or in either VKB Config or VKB JoyTester. The slew X-axis ("Slider 1") worked fine, though. Since Rot Z did work both with the default profile and another custom profile loaded, I was pretty sure this wasn't a hardware-error.

After comparing all the fields in the Logical and Physical axes-tabs (without truly understanding what I was looking at, lol!), I noticed that in the profile in question, Rot Z's "Input" field was set to "V_MaRS" while the "Slider"-axis (slew's X-axis) was set to "Virtual". Since my other profile and the default settings had Rot Z on "Virtual", I simply changed Rot Z back to "Virtual" in the profile in question and now the slew Y-axis works again. I guess I must've changed that value by mistake (probably?) when I last edited the profile about 12 months ago.

And because I don't remember if I made that change deliberately or by mistake:

What does the "V_MaRS"-setting mean and why would you set a slew axis to that setting?

IIRC, the only (deliberate) changes I made to that "faulty" custom profile was to set the flip-trigger to send out a single button press when going from "safe" to "armed" and back. And to set the brake-lever to send out a single button press instead of an axis-signal.

Thanks for the help!

Sascha
