Double press to stay pressed, release on regular press

I have been wanting to use a button where when I press it, it works normally. However, if I double press (or another pattern?) it presses and holds until I press the original button.
I tried to follow another guide covering something similar, but it seems I am not as sharp as I once was.

What I want:
Press/hold button 3: button 3 input as usual
double press button 3: button 3 stays pressed until I press it again

I tried to get information from forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?t=7375 but I had no luck with understanding it.
It looks like I am going to want to use a tempo macro, but I am confused how to set it up to enable and disable properly. The physical and logical button choices do not make sense as to why they are chosen.
