Gunfighter IV SCG malfunction

Postby monmon1101 » Sun May 05, 2024 13:06

I'm currently having two issues with Gunfighter IV SCG.

One is that the left-handed Gunfighter IV SCG doesn't work well. Even in the Devcfg test, it is recognized as shown in images ①, ②, and ③, but there is no reaction. Even though S-TECS is working normally as shown in ④.

Second, I mistakenly flashed BB_MK2_GunFighter_SCG_v2_16_5 to the Gunfighter IV SCG on my right hand, and the BLACKBOX did not light up and was no longer recognized.

Could you please give me some advice regarding these?

Used version
DevCfg v0.92.88
ZBootloder2 v1.96

Gunfighter IV SCG v2.150
Gunfighter IV SCG L v2.151
S-TECS MINI v2.165

If it was possible to flash black box mk2 firmware to your black box mk3, that sounds like yo had one of the early models with incorrect device signature. The firmware version 2.15.1 also supports that assertion. You will need help from an official VKB agent to get that fixed, unless the Blackbox Mk3 Unified firmware image flashes successfully.

First of all, you need to get into the bootloader. Plug the black box in with the Sys button held down. That should cause the blue LED to light up and the device to be detected under the "njoy32" name. Now you can open zbootloader and connect to it.

Once zbootloader is open and has connected to the stick, try flashing the aforementioned firmware. If that does not work, type "save" into the file name bar. That should give you a .op1 file. That needs to be processed by a VKB rep. Attach it here and wait for their response.

To get the grip working, I recommend you hit the big default button on the left of the big "tools" toolbar, then follow the on-screen prompts for autoconfig and calibration. Alternatively, do those steps in the video guide at https://youtube.com/watch?v=2KWjBe5UxSQ to configure and calubrate without vkbdevcfg.

thank you for your reply.
I see...I bought the right-hand stick right after it was released, so maybe that's why?
I tried the steps with the bootloader, but the following error occurred and I could not proceed.

I tried calibrating the left hand grip several times using the video procedure, but the symptoms did not change...

Yeah, expected as much. That is what the OP1 file is needed for to fix things. Unfortunately, I cannot help you with that, only VKB staff has access to the tools needed to correct the device signature.

Now for the buttons and axes... if the device has been completely defaulted/autoconfigured and the axes still do not show up, the culprit is likely some program on your PC conflicting with the sticks. Do you have some controller-related program running in the background? Hidhide installed on your computer? The stick configured in Steam Input?

With the BB in the same stage as in your screenshot above (bootloading mode, with blue light and OK for Boot Device) clear the command line (where the firmware name is) and type: save. Check the folder where zbootloader is stored, zip the .op1 file you'll find in there and attach it to a message here.

thank you for teaching me!

I see…
I also have Hidhide and some sticks connected.
I'll try removing it and calibrating it!

Make sure that if HIDHide is set to hide the sticks, vkbdevcfg is whitelisted for access to them.

Please download the attached file, then extract it in the same folder with zBootloader. Run zBootloader as Admin, make sure the BBIII is in bootloading mode (disconnect other devices to make sure), then erase everything from the command line and type in: load. Try to flash the Unified firmware afterwards.

I flashed it according to the instructions and it started to be recognized. thanks so much!
As advised, the left-handed stick was competing with the Razer Huntsman V3 Pro, and when I removed it, it was recognized...
