Faulty Black Box

Postby JeanMa73 » Wed May 01, 2024 14:47

I purchased a brand new T-Rudder pedals MK.V in September last year.

Brilliant product, however, two weeks ago it completely stopped working. The issue I'm having is with the Black Box. Windows doesn't seem to recognise it anymore.

I've searched this forum for solutions and nothing already suggested here has worked for me :(

I even bought a new cable USB A > USB B and still no luck.

When the issue started, I had all the LEDs flashing on the box, then I had a constant flashing white light and now nothing at all.

The box also seems to get really hot when I plug it in. I tried on another PC and there's nothing also.

In my Device Manager, I'm getting the following message:

Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\6&23491980&1&2 was configured.
Driver Name: usb.inf
Class Guid: {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}
Driver Date: 06/21/2006
Driver Version: 10.0.22621.3155
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Section: BADDEVICE.Dev.NT
Driver Rank: 0xFF0000
Matching Device Id: USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE
Outranked Drivers: usb.inf:USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE:00FF2000
Device Updated: false
Parent Device: USB\ROOT_HUB30\5&b222599&0&0

I raised a ticket with support and tried everything they asked me to do and still no luck.

Any suggestion as I don't know what to do next?

Thank you

The box should not get hot. Try running it without the pedals, and if it still does not show up in Windows, try pressing the sys button shortly after plugging in the USB cord, and holding it for about 5 seconds.

I tried what you suggested on numerous occasions without any luck.

Now Windows doesn't even recognise the box when I plug it in.

It's not showing on my Device Manager.

It is a hardware issue.

In that case, your ticket with the shop you boughtbit from is probably your best bet. I can think of no user-servicable issue that would cause a black box to get hot unless it is something like bent pins on the bus connectors or loose metal inside the device - both of which would be painfully obvious.

It does seem that your BB is defective. Stay on the ticket please, they'll surely send you a replacement.

I bought the item from this website and I still have the receipt.

I have emailed customer support and waiting for them to reply with hopefully a replacement unit.

Thank you for your replies.

What would "this website" be? vkb-sim.pro does not operate a webshop that serves non-Russian-speaking markets, so that would probably be a regional distributor like
http://flightsimcontrols.com/
https://www.vkbcontrollers.com/
https://vkb-sim.com.au/
https://aliexpress.com/store/3023007
Each of these shops have their own ticket system. If they need more convincing that a hardware issue is to blame, knowing who needs to be convinced can help.

I bought it from https://flightsimcontrols.com/ and I raised a ticket from their Support page.

Thank you
