Unable to program flap detents

Postby brlowe » Fri Feb 02, 2024 19:04

Starting a new post for just this flap detent issue.

I have installed firmware 2.178 and have everything working except my flap detents.
When I hold B1,2,3 and boot into program mode for the GNX-SEM I press the A1 button to program the flaps but when I press A1 the light on A2 lights up and I can only program the landing gear lever detents. I cannot get A1 to light up at all.
Any ideas what could be the problem? Should I try a different firmware?

At what point in this video do you get the error? After resetting to default and auto-configuring, which buttons are pressed when moving the flap lever? How many positions is the lever set to?

Ok here are some more details and an update.

Added my FSM-GA - wanted to get it all working.
I re-flashed the 2.178 firmware.
Reset to default and did autoconfigure and still had a flap issue but everything else worked.
Went back into GNX-SEM config (pressed buttons and restarted). It showed the flaps configured as 4 detents but I changed it, rebooted and then configured it again for 4 detents. It worked the first time. I then did exited the config software and went into MSFS and tried to set it up and the flaps were not working. Back into VKB config and the flaps are bad again.

Thank you for your help and patience with me.
I have packed up all my virpil joysticks and Honeycomb stuff to save for after moving and will just be using my VKB setup as it is compact, only 1 connection and has tons to offer.

Sorry I had to edit the above post as I'm back to the flaps 4 detents not working again.
Any help would be great.

I’ll ask again - how many physical positions does the flap lever have? When changing the firmware, you do not need to configure the address or number of positions. This is done once when changing the liner and that’s it.

My flap lever has the 4 position detent block in it.
The button numbers sound be 58-61 from down to up.
I plugged it in so I could tell you what it was doing and the flap lever was working right.
The axis needed calibration so I clicked start calibration and did all the axis. Then clicked end calibration and it disconnected and reconnected like it does.
Now the flap lever output is messed up.

So here is what it does.
With landing gear switch up I am now getting all 4 positions 58-61.
Then if I move the gear lever to middle or down position I only get 58-60 with the flap lever.
If I leave the flap lever in the up 61 position you can get it change when I move the gear lever up and down.
It is very strange.
Just to be clear the gear lever gives me all 3 output correct 62,63 & 64.

Does the flap lever need to be calibrated?

I totally get it. I will make a video and post it up on You tube so you can see it. It will be a day or 2 before I get it and I'm sorry for the dumb problem I'm having.

Most likely the factory settings of the flap and landing gear axes have been lost. Instructions for calibration will be sent via PM.
