I have GFIII and GFIV bases and noticed that the 'Base-to-Controller Cable' changed in design.

The new GF4 cable has a black plastic body, while the older GF3 cable had a full metal body.

Are the cables fully compatible? Is there a reason not to use the older cable on GF4 based?

I like the look of the older cable a bit more, because it looks more technical.

Same connectors, so you could definitely use any you like more.
